Shell Petrol & Oil Advert Circa 1926 This poster was used to line an old orange box and simply left to rot! Torn, folded, bits missing, stained with rust marks making this a real challenge to restore. The original size was about 18” x 29” I have scanned the various parts and repainted or airbrushed where necessary. The shell text was beyond salvage, as part of it was missing. I have, therefore, reproduced the Shell font in Corel Painter. The artist was a French illustrator René Vincent. René was influential in the Art Deco movement in the 1920s and 1930s making him famous for his striking poster designs. The printer was Waterlow & Sons Ltd, Lithographers, London, Dunstable and Watford. This poster is not 100% true to the original and should be regarded as new interpretation of this famous Shell Poster. Restored by Charlie Poole. I really hope that you will enjoy your new print.
