Howard Miller was an American graphic artist. He painted posters during World War II in support of the war effort. In 1942 he painted the famous “We Can Do It!” poster, frequently misidentified as “Rosie the Riveter.” Miller was based in Pittsburgh during the war. His work came to the attention of the Westinghouse Company and he was hired to create a series of posters. The posters were sponsored by the company's War Production Co-Ordinating Committee. He based the "We Can Do It!" poster on an image of Geraldine Doyle working in a factory. N.B. “Rosie the Riveter” is a picture by Norman Rockwell This image was created from an original poster, the process was as follows:- Using a Kopykake Projector the image was airbrushed onto Bockingford Water Colour paper.
